Audi Debuts Electric Mountain Bike That Can Go From ‘Eco’ Mode To ‘Boost’
Racers can now go from the roads onto the less-traveled tracks up in the hills with Audi UK’s latest limited-edition mountain bicycle, which is said to be based on its RS Q e-tron Dakar rally car.
Powered by Fantic, the bike is another step for the brand to diversify its offerings and offer customers other modes of mobility beyond four wheels. As New Atlas pointed out, its competitors have been doing the same, with BMW, Toyota, and GM releasing their own range of two-wheel drives as well.
According to the brand, the adaptable ride “stands out on the breadth of its abilities” and can navigate through any terrain from touring to endurance biking. Its specialty, however, is downhill riding—thanks to the full 180mm suspension travel, wider wheels, and off-road tires.
The bicycle’s enduro frame is made out of lightweight aluminum and allows riders to take a “relaxed riding position” so more attention can be paid to the obstacles and roads ahead.
Its battery pack, located within the frame and marked with eye-catching decals, supplies power to the Brose S-MAG 36 Volt 250 Watt motor, providing riders with up to 90Nm of torque.
There are even four different levels of electrical assistance, ranging from eco to tour, sport, and boost.
Each mode has been calibrated to deliver a tailored experience, with eco providing maximum efficiency, tour bringing an electrical boost, sport adding assistance for powerful cycling, and maximum help with boost for the more challenging paths.
At the front of the bicycle, riders will find a small digital display installed on the handlebars so they can keep track of metrics such as battery levels and the speed they’re going at just with a glance.
