Ring recently launched the latest addition to its collection of smart doorbells, which is the first battery-operated model that features a top-to-toe view on the other side of the door.
Called the Battery Video Doorbell Plus, the iteration is said to last three times as long as the first-generation version, and record up to 1536p HD videos due to its wider 150 x 150-degree viewing angle.
According to Pocket-lint, the new device even comes with color night vision to help spot lurkers in the dark, live view of what’s going on outside, two-way communication, and an advanced motion detection system.
More conveniently, users will be able to receive real-time notifications of visitors arriving or if any sudden movements occur outside the door via the accompanying smartphone application.
Plus, you can even customize the exact motion zones you wish to detect, so your pup running around the background or the neighbor’s cat visiting from two houses away won’t trigger unnecessary alarms.
The technology has gotten so intuitive that homeowners can choose between a ‘People Only Mode’ that sends a notification only when a person appears at the doorstep, or ‘Package Alerts’ so you’ll know when the mailman stops by.
Battery Doorbell Plus is available for pre-order and retails at US$179.99. Head here for more information.
