Microsoft’s Bing Search Engine Surpasses 100 Million Daily Users Thanks To AI
If someone said that the Bing search engine would rack up over 100 million daily users a couple of years ago, no one would believe them. The Microsoft feature often played second—or even third—fiddle to the giant reach of Google Search.
However, thanks to the introduction of OpenAI’s ChatGPT-style features on Bing and web browser Edge, the company’s Corporate Vice President Yusuf Mehdi officially announced the firm had reached the unexpected milestone after just a month of launching.
According to a press statement, it appears that about a third of the users are new to Bing, reinforcing the powerful draw of artificial intelligence (AI) tools on the internet. As Microsoft put it, more users are looking for a combination of “search + answers + chat + creation” together.

On average, the company reported that most users engage in three chats per session, having already generated 45 million chats since the features were first added. Furthermore, in 15% of all chats, individuals have used the search engine to generate new content.
There’s no doubt the expansion of Bing’s AI chatbot from desktop to mobile devices has helped the site gain even more popularity. The small screen’s Answers and Chat functions have given rise to a six times increase in daily users from before it was introduced.
Of course, as Mashable pointed out, compared to Google’s daily active count of one billion users, Bing still has a long way to go before it catches up to the world’s most popular search engine. Nonetheless, 100 million daily users seem like a significant milestone worth celebrating.
