‘Super Mario’ Boots Step Into The Real World Just In Time For Mario Day

Everyone’s favorite plumber is taking a step into the real world. Well, at least his boots are. On March 10, Super Mario’s titular character celebrated MAR10 Day. It’s a date that not only spells out his moniker but is also in honor of the plumber that simultaneously saved the Mushroom Kingdom and tons of fans worldwide from boredom.

The boots also mark Mario’s entrance onto the silver screen with the upcoming premiere of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. With that, Nintendo has paired with Red Wing Shoes to send his iconic boots down the warp pipes and into our realm.

The shoes are a replica of Mario’s in the game, topped off with fine stitching, the same bulbous shape, and even mushroom leather as a quiet nod to the food that provides the hero with extra powers.

Red Wing Shoes notes that it had worked with the team behind the movie to replicate the kicks in real life accurately. And as cool of an addition as these shoes would have been to anyone’s Mario costume, they’re not for sale. Instead, they will be on exhibit at Nintendo’s New York Store throughout April.

Previously, MSCHF debuted a similar animated-to-real-world crossover by recreating Astro Boy’s boots for people to wear. This time, the footwear is up for sale for those dreaming of walking a mile in his shoes.
