Futuristic Popup Camper Looks Like A Spacecraft You Can Zip Around With Your Car

A sleek science fiction-like futuristic camper from Detroit-based Grounded RVs is about to hit the market for the eco-conscious adventurer.
 
The towable vehicle looks like a sleek spacecraft out of Star Wars that can pop out onto the road and then compress into an aerodynamically-advanced camper. Grounded RVs’ focus on aerodynamics may prove helpful as, sometimes, lugging a large and chunky caravan on the back of a car might not make for the easiest of drives.

The sleeper expands upwards to allow anyone up to 6’5” to walk through it once they’ve arrived at their destination and are prepared to settle in for the night. A queen-sized bed, a pull-out table, a seat, a dry flush toilet, and a compact kitchen with an induction stovetop are all included in its totally modular interior.
 
Its solar panels offer 1,500 W of sustainable energy off the grid, and its electronics can be controlled remotely. Then, once you’re ready to head back, its top part sinks back in for a leisurely drive back home.

Grounded RVs estimates an early 2024 arrival. Reservations are now open, and you must place a US$100 refundable deposit.
