All-Wood Keyboard Is A Zen Lover’s Type, With Keys Carved From A Single Slab

The Hacoa Full Ki-Board, composed from nature and composed for a more tranquil digital life, is crafted from walnut or cherry hardwoods.

Its keys are carved from a single slab of wood, delightfully keeping a consistent color and grain throughout.

The only detail that nature enthusiasts will want to Esc from is its price—this wireless, mechanical unit will set you back ¥99,000 (US$755).

Although it hails from Japan, the Ki-Board follows the US English QWERTY layout. A literal nice touch is the set of holes in the ‘F’, ‘J’, and ‘5’ buttons to guide your fingers across the keyboard.

The keys are built with blue switches for satisfying clicking sounds, along with a keystroke of 3mm.

‘Ki’ means energy or spirit in Japanese, and the manufacturer describes that the natural, renewable material on the sleek keyboard brings a sense of warmth to cold personal computers.

Since wood is prone to degradation, Hacoa has protected the keyboard with a urethane coating. As for the keycaps, they’re laser-etched to accommodate long-term use.

Elsewhere, the Bluetooth-enabled device is packed with a 1,000mAh battery that yields 240 hours of use, and can be charged in two hours via USB-C.

To complete the family tree, there’s also the option to get the matching wooden palm rest, which will add ¥99,000 (US$84) to the already steep price.
