Daniel Arsham And Stone Island Redefine A Porsche And Unimog For Off-Roading

Safari is a new project by Daniel Arsham and fashion brand Stone Island,  centering around transforming a vintage Porsche 930 and Mercedes-Benz Unimog U404 into off-road compatible art pieces ready to take on all types of terrain.
 
The Porsche used in the project was built by American racecar driver Leh Keen who used a Porsche 911 Turbo from 1986 as its base. It was converted into a hypercar ready for the desert or any other environment one would not necessarily find a Porsche.
 

In order for it to go off-road, original pieces from the ’70s and ’80s were used in the construction of the Safari. It has also been outfitted into an actual rally car with a skid plate on its underside, heightened suspension to get it over various terrain, and off-road tires.
 
And in case the 911 Turbo found itself in a sticky situation while traveling through uncharted territory, a partner Mercedes-Benz Unimog U404 has been redesigned to accompany the supercar as a recovery vehicle.

The Unimog was stylized to be a counterpart to the Porsche and came with complementary interiors and exteriors fashioned out of archival Stone Island fabrics.
 
The vehicles are also accompanied by special team outfits, which include an overall jacket, shirt, trousers, and a bag.

All of the items and cars are not on sale. They were, however, on show at the La Brea Stone Island store in Los Angeles from March 19 to March 20.
