BBDO Dublin, a creative agency, has just released the first campaign video in Ireland created via artificial intelligence. The video highlights the ever-growing homeless issue in Ireland and how the Dublin Simon Community is working towards aiding people to get back on their feet.
Unfair City tells the story of Justin Cannon in a captivating watercolor style with images and snapshots of his life artfully told with a voiceover recounting his profound journey.
Cannon tells of how he left Ireland as a young boy for England and stayed there roaming the streets for years until finally finding himself at the Dublin Simon Community. The charity helped him join a choir and then get him his own home where he now lives with his cat, Benny. He currently volunteers for the charity to help others get back on their feet.
According to LBB Online, Robert Boyle, creative director and head of art at BBDO Dublin, noted that recounting such stories might place those who are or were homeless in vulnerable positions, primarily when a camera and lights are pointing at them.
However, it is a social issue that needs more attention, and Cannon’s inspirational story could touch many. So to work around that, his words were taken and turned into prompts for AI generators, churning out his story without him having to be in front of a camera.
Hopefully, using such tech will make it easier for others to share their experiences and inspire others in the community to make changes in their lives or go the extra mile and help those in need.
The video was created via Midjourney and Disco Diffusion and specific artists were worked with during the process. Director Diogo Kalil and illustrator Vini Bustamante helped bring Cannon’s words to life.
