Balenciaga Invites Men To Slip Their Feet Into Its Dainty Ballerina Pumps

The classic ballerina pump has long been a staple for women across the globe. After all, who doesn’t love a convenient, slip-on shoe that complements nearly every look?

Now, Balenciaga is extending the traditionally feminine silhouette to men, recently releasing its ‘Leopold Ballerina’ options in larger sizes from EU 39 (US 8.5) to EU 46 (US 13.5), so even large-footed misters can trot around in a dainty pair.

Retailing at US$925, the satin shoes are available in turquoise, black, or light beige, and as noted by Hypebeast, are a departure from the usual chunky sneakers the brand has built its reputation on.

The slip-ons, which are made from 100% polyester with a leather insole and black outsole, come with a bow adorning the rounded toe, with a worn-out effect on the uppers.

As the publication pointed out, the tide in fashion seems to be turning for men’s shoes, with a Vogue writer having tried a pair of similar pumps from MM6 Maison Margiela last year as more fashion houses buck traditional gender norms to offer more inclusive sizing.
