AI Could Soon Take Over Your Zoom Meetings To Summarize Chats, Compose Emails

In a recent announcement, video messaging application Zoom said it was collaborating with OpenAI to bring new features to enhance its Zoom IQ capabilities, including the ability to summarize chats, organize ideas, draft content, create meeting agendas, and more.

The company said the new artificial intelligence add-ons will help streamline workflows for teams and allow employees to move through their days more easily. For example, if someone joins a meeting late, they can simply ask the bot to summarize what they’ve missed out on.

Additionally, if a whiteboard session needs to be created for a meeting, Zoom IQ can whip one up on the go just based on text prompts. Once the session ends, the tool can even go over what’s been discussed and post the recap to a team chat, so everyone is clear on the next steps.

Those who dread crafting messages or replies in meetings will be glad to learn that a ‘chat compose’ feature will help find the right words and draft responses, even rephrasing the original message to better suit the tone of the conversation.

This doesn’t just stop at chats within meetings. The generative AI has the ability to read through meeting summaries and assess completed tasks to compose its own emails—with options to set the tone, ranging from ‘formal’ to ‘persuasive’ and ‘playful’.
