Unique Speaker Design Erupts With Inspiration From Volcanic Formations

If there’s one right way to listen to heavy metal, it might just be out of a speaker inspired by volcanic lava rock.
 
The piping-hot smart speaker, ‘Obsidian’, was dreamed up by Australian design firm Pantheone Audio. Its form factor blurs the line between functionality and art as the tear-drop shape of the device sparks images of the facets from an obsidian rock formed after a mighty eruption.

Although, instead of spewing out hot lava and rocks, you’re hit with the hottest hits of today or rock music instead, whatever gets your (volcanic) juices flowing.
 
Obsidian carries an internal woofer and two silk dome tweeters to deliver more well-rounded audio. If you’re looking for surround sound, hook it up to a secondary Obsidian or any other speaker you own.

It is integrated with Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, and WiFi so that users can stream music from apps such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal. It also houses Alexa to help you choose your next playlist or control your home appliances.
 
Pantheone Audio is offering these speakers now on its website for US$1,699 in a black or a white.
