Spotify Debuts ‘Niche Mixes’ That Let You Create Playlists With Just A Few Words

If there’s one draw of Spotify, it’s that the streaming service offers a wide array of personalized playlists across the hundreds of music genres available. One example is Spotify Mixes, a feature that allows listeners to choose songs based on their mood, decades, or even by mixing genres.

Now, the music giant is introducing a brand-new feature to its selection of customizable playlists: Niche Mixes—a set of playlists that combines all of the different types of mixes currently available. Users can even supplement their selections with a few descriptive words for the perfect Mix.

Simply search within the application’s ‘Made For You’ hub to find five to 10 pre-arranged playlists Spotify thinks you’ll like based on your listening habits. Not specific enough? Type in an activity, vibe, or aesthetic you’re looking for with “mix” at the end, and it’ll churn out a playlist just for you.

According to the platform, the more Mixes a user searches for, the more music they’ll be led to discover. Want to start the day on a positive note? Try the Feel Good Morning Mix or head out on a jog while plugged into the ’80s Running Mix.

Nearly anything’s possible, with Spotify promising that “if you can think of it, there may very well be a Mix of it.” Each playlist will pick songs by combining music from artists, decades, and genres users are already familiar with, together with new additions that match the chosen vibe.

Plus, each personalized Mix will continuously be updated daily so listeners can check back regularly to discover similar tunes. Niche Mixes is currently available globally to Free and Premium Spotify users who search in English.
