Mini Electric Motorcycle Folds Down To Fit In Your Trunk For Swift Commutes

Long after Honda’s 1981 Motocompo first wheeled onto the scene—with its tiny structure and ability to fold into the trunk of your car—Shanghai-based Felo has devised its own version called the M One Folding EV Scooter, bringing back compact vehicles for the new age.
 
The idea behind these mini mopeds was to give users more variety and allow them to park on the city’s outskirts, and then use the motorcycle to drive it instead. Or if a car broke down, it could come in a pinch to get its user to help, like a lifeboat.

The two-wheeler is an electric ode to Honda’s Motocompo and runs a 400-watt 1.34 horsepower hub motor. It is juiced up by a 48V 20-Ah lithium-ion battery pack that can take its rider just slightly over 60 miles. And when not in use, it doubles up as a mobile battery pack for other electronics when off the grid. 
 
The top handle folds inwards, doubles over itself, and slots into a compartment to seamlessly turn into this box-like shape. It measures 45.6 by 22 by 33.8 inches, much like Honda’s version, and only weighs 80 pounds and should be easy enough to carry in and out of the car.

Though it might be small, that doesn’t mean it cannot carry its load. Aluminum and magnesium luggage tracks have been added for riders to strap on their goods to haul around.
 
The Felo M One first appeared at the 2023 Tokyo Motorcycle Show and is being released in Japan and China for US$2,900.
