Ex-Twitter Employees Launch App That Lets Longtime Users Keep Their Checkmarks
Come April 1, the app run by Elon Musk will remove the verification checkmarks held by “legacy” users. If holding onto your badge is something you care about, then there’s now a new home for you.
T2, a social network founded by two former Twitter employees, is welcoming longtime users of the bird app by promising to save their checkmarks if they come on board. Currently, registrations on the platform—which joins a slew of Twitter alternatives that have entered the scene since Musk’s takeover—are by-invite-only.
The site plans to build a “public square” akin to what the platform was like in the good old days, hence the apt ‘T2’ moniker. So the experience won’t be too different for legacy Twitter users. It has even brought in its own version of Twitter’s old ‘fail whale’—a ‘fail snail’.

T2’s latest ‘Get the Checkmark’ feature lets users reclaim their verification ticks from Twitter by filling out a form by April 1, when Musk’s social media company snaps the old checkmarks into oblivion. For those who may miss the deadline, fret not, as the newer app is expediting a new approval process in which members can request to get their badges by speaking to a representative one-on-one.
T2’s checkmarks will also come with ruffles, but you can’t call them blue ticks as they’re purple.
