For April Fool’s Day, ready meal brand Stouffer’s teamed up with creative agency Wunderman Thompson on a campaign aiming to reach busy Gen Z eaters. And what better way to catch their short attention spans than by shortening the names of classic dishes?
The company, or Stouff’s, as the cool kids call it, wants to show how its ready-made meals require just minutes to prepare—perfect for young people who have to zip around from one appointment to the next.
To give “precious milliseconds” back to customers, the company showcased the same range of meals it’s always served; only this time, with different names. Pepperoni French Bread Pizza was changed to “Roni Frebre Za,” while Macaroni and Cheese became simply “Meese.”
That’s not all. Chicken Enchiladas were rebranded to just “Ladas” and lasagna was changed to “Sagna with Mauce.” Gen Z speak continued throughout the packaging, with the lasagna said to be made with “100 peef, herb sizzied mato soss, and real mochee.”
While it’s safe to say these renamed dishes probably aren’t going to pop up in grocery stores, it’s still humorous to see brands try to reinvent themselves and their offerings to appeal to a younger crowd. IYKYK.
