You’ll see the action on YouTube before the fancams arrive on TikTok.
This year, the video-sharing platform will be livestreaming all six stages of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on both weekends, upping the ante from only three stages in the past. Considering that event passes for the first weekend are already all snapped up, this is very good news for Coachella fans indeed.
In tandem with the in-person desert festival, the streams will go live on the Coachella YouTube channel on April 14 and April 21 at 7 p.m. ET (man, if only Fyre Festival were this tech-savvy—could’ve saved guests a lot of money and their sanity).
The lineup this year is pretty stellar, with big names like Bad Bunny, Blackpink, Calvin Harris, Becky G, Rosalía, Burna Boy, Gorillaz, and Frank Ocean headlining the event. Fans can also check out installations, go behind the scenes, and follow on-the-ground coverage in between sets.
“Whether you’re watching from home, abroad, or at parties with friends, anyone can tune into Coachella’s YouTube Channel, pick a stage, and watch the performances happening live with the rest of the fans,” YouTube teases in a blog post.
There’s something in it for the Google-owned app too, of course. YouTube is handing out virtual passes for backstage “pre-parties” to members subscribed to its Premium tier, and it’s also inviting viewers to interact with their favorite artists on YouTube Shorts to raise awareness about its services. Fans can also tune into Coachella performances via the YouTube Music app.
And what’s a festival without merchandise? Thankfully for those who can’t be there at Coachella Valley, you can also purchase exclusive swag directly on the livestreams and the shopping feature in YouTube shorts.
If you’re wondering, yes, you can catch up on the performances after the event. Replays will be available after the final performance of the night, and will be up until the next live show commences the following evening.
