In commemoration of Mole Day, a day dedicated to skin mole awareness, Opal, a Peruvian laundry detergent brand, has teamed up with creative agency VMLY&R Peru on a campaign to raise awareness of the symptoms of skin cancer.
Taking steps to prevent and spot early signs of melanoma is of utmost importance, especially in a country with the highest ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels in the world. As such, the brand worked with medical specialists and macro photographers on a series of pictures to spread the message.
Signs of melanoma were made to appear as zoomed-in “stains” on garments, with the images plastered across billboards, magazine advertisements, and social media posts. Viewers could then scan the QR code to schedule a free skin cancer screening appointment.
According to LLB Online, the campaign saw a significant increase in the number of residents being ruled out as compared to the previous year, especially in men, which saw a threefold increase in the number of people tested.
