‘Harry Potter’ Game Dedicated To Quidditch Takes Off In Development

Just after the release of the Warner Bros. Games’ new hit, Hogwarts Legacy, a new game from the Wizarding World is zooming in on a broomstick.
 
Anyone who has picked up Hogwarts Legacy might have noticed the glaring absence of one of the best things to come out of the franchise: Quidditch.
 
Players were first alerted to the sport being canceled by headmaster Phineas Black and coach Kogawa after students got seriously injured, and school staff caught some players cheating during the games. Thankfully, you could still fly around the world on a broom and take part in some high-speed chases on the back of your broom and hippogriff.
 
Unfortunately, the lack of Quidditch has led to players missing out on what would have made the already immersive open-world game even more faithful to the Hogwarts experience. Many were confused by the decision, but Warner Bros. Games might have been brewing something all along.

The studio has just announced a new upcoming offering centered on the sport Harry Poter: Quidditch Champions. Per Kotaku, Warner Bros. Games and Unbroken Studio have heard the cry of fans for such a game and have been working for many years on developing it. In turn, the studios are now reaching out to audiences for help.

As stated in the tweet, fans can sign up for a playtest to help with development. When putting in your details, you will be asked how much you love the franchise, and how many hours you spend playing different genres, such as shooters, battle royales, and sports, and you will be tested on your knowledge of the books and movies.

Once in, you can choose between the four positions—‘Seeker’, ‘Chaser’, ‘Beater’, and ‘Keeper’—and customize your witch or wizard. In the teaser trailer, the aesthetics lean towards a more stylized and cartoonish take on the world, rather than the more realistic animation seen in Hogwarts Legacy.
 
Nevertheless, an official release window has not been announced, but the playtests will run from April 21 to April 22.
