Underwater ‘Bond’ Villain’s Lair Appears To Lurk Inside This Superyacht Concept

The seas are a wondrous yet perilous place with dangers lurking beneath. If you were to take them on a voyage, though, you might as well do it in style. U-Boat Worx has just unveiled its upcoming ‘Nautilus’ super yacht’s interior, which looks more like a Bond villain’s lair than your average boat.

The 123-foot vessel functions as any yacht would, but it can fully submerge underwater and turn into a submarine with all the makings of a private hotel suite under the waves. Its interior is fully decked out with lounges, dining spots, entertainment areas, and bedrooms cocooned within curved walls and punctuated with circular windows for incredible views of the seas just beyond your confines.

Looking at the concept renders, the quarters evoke a retrofuturism aesthetic reminiscent of old spy and space movies. U-Boat mentions that Jules Vernes’ Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea inspired the sub-slash-yacht. How the final product will look is yet to be seen as U-Boat notes that each customer can fully customize their interiors. However, it has a standard galley, an owner’s suite, four staterooms, and cabins for six crew members.

It also has a mezzanine observation lounge, a gym, and a bar. If you want to spend a day in the sun, there is a sundeck with a lounge, bar, and Jacuzzi. 

The Nautilus is diesel-electric and has a propulsion system that can speed through the water at up to nine knots. When switched to submarine mode, it can dive 656 feet and travel another 3,200 miles. The maximum time it can travel underwater is six hours at a time, but it can stay stationary below the surface for up to four days.

If you’re in the market for an underwater lair, U-Boat Worx estimates that it can be delivered within 30 months for the hefty price of US$24.5 million.
