Cable Network Creates ‘Screen Savers’ To Safeguard TVs From Angry Spectators

Ah, the National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs are just around the corner—meaning sports-obsessed family members and friends will begin yelling at the screen when the team they support doesn’t perform as expected.

To protect television sets across the country from the wrath of angry supporters, regional network Bally Sports has created a literal ‘screen saver’ that will prevent screens from shattering even if remote controllers are hurled against them at full force.

Rather than adding a layer of protection in front of the display, the quirky item comprises inflatable cushions that surround a clicker, so if, or when, it’s tossed at the television screen, it’ll simply bounce right off without incurring any damage.

Funnily enough, or annoyingly so, the gag gift won’t be available for purchase, as the network claims its lawyers are “too cautious” to let it give the floaties—reminiscent of those used by children in the swimming pool—away.
