Coach ismaking a new mark on the circular fashion space with the launch of its latest sister brand, Coachtopia.
Coachtopia has one goal in mind, and that is to give new love to old fashion waste. The “agile start-up”, as described by Joon Silverstein, Head of Coachtopia, is taking discarded materials from the manufacturing of Coach’s other products and spinning out handbags, clothes, and other accessories.
“We’ve built Coachtopia as an entirely new world within Coach—an agile start-up with a mission to reimagine the end-to-end system,” notes Silverstein. “We’re building it not just for our consumers, but with them, inviting a growing community of hundreds of Gen Z individuals to join us on our Slack channel, collaborate with us on products, take center stage in our content and campaigns—and reimagine our future together.”
The brand has invited Gen Z climate change activists, designers, upcyclers, journalists, and others to deliver this new brand. Because who better to dream up accessories transformed from trash than the generation that made thrifting cool?
That said, with younger consumers involved in the process, the lineup includes fun and whimsical patterns and colors seen on a more updated take on some of Coach’s classic silhouettes. Besides bags, there will be clothes made from recycled cotton and shoes with renewable EVA from sugarcane in their soles.
