Yelp’s New AI Tools Make Searching For Your Next Day Out More Intuitive
Yelp is joining the artificial intelligence movement with its very own rendition, and no, it’s not another chatbot here to converse with you; instead, it’s a revamp of its in-app search engine aimed at aiding customers with better results and recommendations.
Citing searching for a tennis court as an example, Yelp says that if a user were to look this facility up from a venue, under each recommended business that pops up, reviews of their tennis court specifically would show. This means you won’t have to waste time going into each page and sifting through reviews to see if one country club or sports center is better than the other.
While Yelp could have just programmed the AI to tell you where to go and catch a game of tennis, it instead gives you selected recommendations from other humans and lets you make the decision yourself. It certainly beats having a machine decide the best spot for a day of sports.
A new ‘Surprise Me!’ button was also added for picky eaters—or anyone who doesn’t enjoy fighting with their friends and family on where to eat for the night—that provides a curated list of highly-rated restaurants for you to try out.
Aside from this, you can now add video reviews to express your experience with a florist or the ambience of a café better.
All in all, these upgrades are the app’s most significant in years and seek to make finding the best place to get a pizza or your dog groomed just a tad bit easier.
