Vending Machine Spitting Out Fake IDs Pops Up In NYC

If you’ve been riding the subway because your driver’s license was rescinded, here’s some news that, admittedly, won’t be of much use. You can now obtain a fake one… but still not be able to drive.

For one day on Sunday, April 29, meme artist Sunday Nobody had a vending machine that dispensed fake IDs installed at 197 Bond Street in Brooklyn. “It’s not illegal, I checked with lawyers,” he proclaimed.

The machine was allowed to create bogus identification because the states on the cards don’t exist and the birth years (like 1776 and 2394) are unrealistic, rendering the “IDs” unusable beyond the boundaries of art.

Patrons could register to be a resident of one of three fictional states.

The first, ‘Westsylvania’, is a “Dracula-themed” amalgamation of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Transylvania, and it’s represented by a bloody logo and red imagery.

‘Florhio’ is an imaginary “super state” merging Florida and Ohio. The silhouette of a bike-riding rogue fighting an alligator head-on sums up its gung-ho spirit.

Finally, there’s the driver’s license template for the ‘District of Chef’. “If we combine several midwestern states, it looks like a chef holding a plate of food. The rat from Ratatouille is the governor,” Sunday Monday explained.

Those who didn’t get the chance to find the vending machine can still have their Custom Fake Fake IDs made on the Sunday Nobody website for US$20.
