Carbs have been in vogue since the beginning of humanity. For the most part, however, consumers have been, well, consuming them instead of wearing them out.
Panera Bread began playing with food as accessories ahead of New York Fashion Week in February. It all panned out—the stylish US$40 ‘BAGuette’ bag rose to the occasion and sold out almost immediately.
Besides taking after Fendi’s famous ‘baguette’ bags, Panera’s BAGuette sported a head-turning green, with classy, gold Panera-branded hardware. Best of all, the purse was perfectly sized for carrying its namesake long loaf.
Those who didn’t act fast enough for the first batch of BAGuettes can now rest easy that the surprising it-accessory will be back to highlight the chain’s first online merchandise store, The Panera Shop, alongside other items it calls “carb couture.”
Soon, you can look at your wardrobe the same way you look at carbs. The Panera Shop is giving loyalty members first access to its fashionable wares for MyPanera Week on May 1 to 7, when fans will also receive daily deals on the restaurant’s app.
Besides the cult BAGuette purse, bread buffs and noodle nuts can dig into ‘Just Baked’ onesies, ‘All My Friends are Bread’ tees, mac-and-cheese-themed tracksuits, practical totes, and even snag a bandana for their furry friends from the store.
