Apple’s First-Ever Retail Store Packs Up & Moves For A ‘Newly Reimagined’ Space

The seed of what has now become a string of 500 Apple Stores worldwide is uprooting, according to a sign displayed in lieu of its space.

Apple Tysons Corner opened its doors on May 19, 2001 at the Tysons Corner Center mall just outside of Washington, DC. Now, ahead of its 22nd anniversary, the first-ever Apple Store says it is ready for the next era.

Confirming the move, the mall shared a photo of the text written on a temporary wall near its entrance, which reads, “The first-ever Apple Store opened 22 years ago here at Tysons Corner. Soon we look forward to welcoming you to this newly reimagined space.”

Apple observer Michael Steeber, who first reported on the upcoming revival on Substack, believes that this reopening will be a special one as “it’s the first time the first Apple Store has ever moved.”

In a statement, the Tysons Corner site details that the redesigned Apple retail location will occupy a slice of its upper level, “between Nespresso and Victoria’s Secret.” The date of the relaunch isn’t known, though.

Apple has since updated its Tysons Corner page with a revitalized visual treatment of the classic rainbow logo, along with the cryptic tagline: “Hello. Again.”
