Barbie Adds A Zesty Twist To Summer With New Lemonade Drinks
With the Barbie movie coming out in July, it’s shaping up to be a hot pink Barbie summer. And what better way to while away the sunny season than to sip on some Barbie-branded lemonade?
In partnership with drinks company Swoon, the Mattel brand is releasing its own Barbie Pink Lemonade line to prepare you for the summer months. It is a sweet, tart, and fruity beverage that, like all the other products in its roster, kicks out the sugar and replaces it with monk fruit instead.
The decision to do so comes with Swoon co-founder Cristina Ros Blankfein, who has type 1 diabetes, and whose goal for the company is to inspire healthy habits through delicious drinks.
The drink comes in a decidedly very Barbie packaging, with its signature hot pink shade making up for most of the can and the Barbie logo over some lemons and strawberries, evoking a refreshing and sunshiney feeling.
What’s more, the collaboration isn’t just a fun addition to a summer picnic or a day out at the beach; 10% of all net sales will go to the Barbie Dream Gap project. The organization aims to provide resources, curriculum, and skills development to girls between five and ten years of age around the world so that they to can “be who they want to be, B-A-R-B-I-E.”
The limited edition beverage will be sold online and in retailers such as Target, Publix, and Whole Foods at 12 cans for US$29.99.
