Diamond Dust Adds Sparkle & Endurance To New Gel Manicures

If you enjoy painting your nails from time to time, you might come to understand the struggle of having them look good for about a day or two before they start chipping away, and you’re left with rather shabby-looking fingers. Thankfully, gel manicures came in to save the day.
 
For the uninitiated in the world of nail painting, gel polish is a special type of varnish that needs to be cured by a UV light to set it into place. This gives clients—and DIY manicure enthusiasts—the illusion of having just stepped out of a salon for weeks to come.
 
The downside is that the varnish can eat away at your nails, make them brittle and thin, and even cause them to crack and break often. So what’s the next step in developing long-lasting polish? Add diamonds to them, of course.

A new Danish beauty brand, Alûstre, is adding what is known as some of the world’s toughest materials to its products so one can do away with the harshness of gel polish.
 
The new formula consists of the brand’s patented ‘DiamondInfused’ technology, which is made up of mineral particles combined with a vegan plant-based mixture that allows your nails to breathe and still grow healthily under the varnish.
 
Of course, when it comes to diamonds, there is another issue of how they are procured. According to Wallpaper, the brand partnered with a 120-year-old supplier that holds to the Kimberley Process and Global Compact Act, an UN-mandated act that seeks to remove conflict in the supply chain.
 
The collection comes in 41 colors, including nudes, reds, greens, and blues.
