Canada Post Moves ‘Ethereal’ Boxes Across Idyllic Scenery In Support Of Eco Mail
To spread the word about its commitment to reducing its environmental impact, Canada Post recently released a brand-new commercial spotlighting its eco-friendly practices, by way of “glacier” boxes that move through the country’s picturesque landscapes.
Dubbed Light on the Earth, the spot depicts transparent, ethereal cubes moving through cities and the countryside, with only labels on the side hinting that the boxes are being transported by the nation’s mail service.
According to The Drum, even the filming of the advertisement prioritized sustainability. Natural light was used as much as possible, and generators were switched off when not in use. In fact, the production reduced its carbon output to just 14 tonnes, for which it paid for a carbon offset.
Creative agency The&Partnership worked with Canada Post on the project as part of the latter’s For The Greener Good initiative, a campaign highlighting the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, including a carbon-neutral ground-delivery service.
Justin Roth, Executive Creative Director at The&Partnership, explained that the use of the ethereal boxes was “the perfect way” to bring across the message of how much lighter an impact the new, carbon-neutral shipping option will have on the environment.
Indigenous Director Shaunoh, from Circle Productions, said that aside from the packages’ journey through the different surroundings, the commercial portrays a “beautiful story” about shared humanity, in which Canadians are reminded of the influence everyone has on one another.
