Animal Rescue Resorts To Drawing Adoption Ads Because Its ‘Camera Broke’

The Ottawa Humane Society in Canada purportedly found itself in this plight one day when it wanted to introduce some of its rescue animals to its online following. Alas, “our camera broke,” the nonprofit claimed.
As such, staff got creative and drew the furry residents—nothing is impawssible!—making sure to capture their quirks too. Each sketch took about 30 minutes to complete, which is much longer than it takes to just snap a photo.
Included in the roster was Annie, a one-year-old American rabbit whose human carers admitted is “not as round” as depicted in her drawing. And Pumpkin the six-year-old cat with green eyes and a lovely black, orange, and white patterned coat got her portrait done on what appeared to be MS Paint, because “the third dimension is overrated,” said the charity.
Internet users were, however, most impressed by how alike Addison the pug mix was to her comically exaggerated illustration. Below are the animals’ real photos. “It turns out we just left the lens cap on,” said Ottawa Humane Society.
Jokes aside, Stephen Smith, the shelter’s communications manager, told Newsweek that the team wanted to try out something “disruptive and different” from tis usual stream of animal photos.
Well, this attempt to think out of the litter box paid off, as Addison the meme-like pug has found a new home, while Pumpkin is due to meet an interested adopter.
