Meta’s Own Version Of Twitter Is On The Horizon, Here’s What It Could Look Like
Meta has never been one to shy away from taking inspiration from other social media apps and incorporating it into its own. Instagram has benefited from adopting Snapchat Stories and TikTok’s short-form video media with Reels. It’s not stopping there, as long-time rumors of it entering the same arena as Twitter are now being strengthened with potential images of what its version might look like.
The news comes from digital media marketing expert Lia Haberman, who reported that the app is almost near completion and could hit the market sometime at the end of June. In her post, she shared a working render of what the platform would look like, based on a marketing slide.

It resembles other text-based social media platforms like Twitter and its co-founder Jack Dorsey’s new Bluesky. However, it has the same design scheme as Instagram, with gradient pink, purple, and orange colors and matching tab buttons.
The app will likely be built from Instagram’s parameters, and users can carry their profiles, usernames, and passwords to the new platform. Haberman also wrote that accounts you’ve blocked on Instagram will not pop up on the new site as well.
So what will you be able to do on this new app besides scream into the void on a site that isn’t run by Elon Musk? Well, it seems like you can still post your inner thoughts and commentary on current affairs while also attaching links, photos, and videos up to five minutes long, much shorter than Twitter’s new two-hour-long format. In addition, it has a 500-word limit and will have likes, reposts, and replies.
Essentially, it’s nothing entirely new for the social media scene. Still, it could be a fresh alternative to those who want to jump off of Musk’s Twitter and would like an easy way to toggle between swiping through your friends’ brunch and vacation pics and posting your internal monologue.
The only thing now is to wait for an announcement on the app. Meta has purportedly given it a few codenames, like ‘Barcelona’ and ‘Project 92’; there is no word on what it could be called outside of that.
