Apple Watch Users Seeing Green/Gray Tint On Displays After Updating Software

No, this is not a new theme. Although, it is a good time to note that Apple Watch owners who install the new watchOS 9.5 update will unlock a Pride Celebration watch face sprinkled with colors of the rainbow.

Less expected, however, is the new green or gray tint that cloaks some Apple Watch displays when users navigate the Control and Notification Center, passcode screen, Theater Mode, and more, Apple news sites like iDownloadBlog report. The issue seems to have surfaced for devices upgraded to the watchOS 9.5 software.

Users have gathered on threads and forums like Reddit and Apple Discussions to voice their gripes about the color change. It’s one thing to purchase an iPhone 14 Pro in the forest green colorway, but a whole different thing to have this shade unceremoniously forced onto you.

Apple has not made a statement about this occurrence, but the green/gray tint is most likely a software bug that shipped with watchOS 9.5.

As for whether the tech giant might have deliberately sprung a surprise frosted glass-like aesthetic change on users, the answer is most probably no, since there’s no indication of this in the release notes.

For now, users will just have to wait for Apple to roll out a fix.
