Cinderella Is The Latest Childhood Character To Get Her Own Horror Film Remake

Following in the footsteps of fellow childhood favorites Winnie-the-Pooh and Bambi, it appears Cinderella will be the next childhood character being subjected to a horror remake. This time though, it won’t be an animated film but a live-action movie ominously titled Cinderella’s Curse.

ChampDog Films, the studio behind other horror adaptations Tooth Fairy and Cannibal Cabin, will produce the film. At the moment, not much is known about the upcoming movie’s premise, except that it will be “an incredibly unique spin” on the old tale.

Director Louisa Warren, who will be at the helm of this project, told Bloody Disgusting in an exclusive interview that the titular princess will be responsible for “some truly horrific deaths” and that fans of gore will be “in for a treat.”

As Geek Culture pointed out, unlike the romantic story we often hear repeated, the original Cinderella folklore did involve some unsightly parts of its own, such as the stepsisters mutilating their own feet to fit into the glass slipper or getting their eyes pecked out.

Could good ol’ Cinderella have been hiding a horror film within its pages all this time? We’ll soon find out. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 23, 2023, and will star actors Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, and Danielle Scott.
