LEGO’s latest campaign,Play Unstoppable, is kicking off with a new set and partnership to help young girls break through the social confines of toys, hobbies, and playtime.
Creative play can be an essential part of a child’s foundation. It helps them cultivate skills, communicate better, and give them an avenue to explore themselves and their interests.Famous Campaigns reports on a survey conducted by LEGO that demonstrates that only 62% of girls believe that only certain activities are for one gender, while 74% of boys believe this.
In trying to encourage more girls to embrace who they are and the endless possibilities of freedom in playtime, the new set teams up with soccer stars such as Megan Rapinoe, Yuki Nagasato, Asisat Oshoala, and Sam Kerr.
The Icons of Play set is meant for soccer enthusiasts and athletes in training aged 12 and above. It is an 899-piece set that brings the “Beautiful Game” directly into your kids’ play area in the form of a stadium. Surrounding it is a dugout, a refreshments corner, a stand filled with fans, and even Video Assistant Referee (VAR) cameras for referees to consult with.
In addition, there will be 15 minifigures included. Four out of five of the players will bear the likenesses of the athletes listed above. Eight are supporters, and there will even be a coach and a referee.
In addition to allowing kids to create their own games, LEGO has partnered with the US Soccer Foundation to develop three permanent mini-soccer pitches across the country and provide access to the sport to the underprivileged. Down in Australia, the toy company partnered with Football Australia via Legacy ’23 and Our Game to build a community platform that will fight against gender stereotypes in soccer and encourage girls to be unstoppable.
The set will be available on June 6 for US$99.99. In the meantime, you can check out more images below.
