This Sci-Fi Glamping Retreat Offers Cave Huts, Sky Domes, And Tree Houses

For those looking for an otherwordly getaway but can’t afford a trip to space (just yet), OutpostX could be just the place. Located in the middle of the barren Utah desert sits the luxury glamping retreat with its unmistakable futuristic design, somewhat reminiscent of a sci-fi film on Mars.

With over 240 acres of space, the site offers guests 10 relaxing retreat rooms, including cave huts carved from rock, sky huts with a transparent dome for unobstructed views of the vast sky, and Bali-style zen huts crafted with ancient tribal techniques.

According to New Atlas, there’s a reason why all of the options available at the OutpostX look like they could’ve featured on a Hollywood set. The hotel was the brainchild of former movie set creator Travis Chambers.

Don’t worry about the desert heat; despite looking as if they’ve been constructed out of rock, tree branches, and nature, each of the room options comes with built-in amenities, Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. After all, OutpostX does brand itself as “glamping” and not just simply camping.

As per Chambers, the unique aesthetic of the entire area is what he would describe as an “ancient future,” combining techniques from long ago with modern luxury and futuristic design, imagining a potential world that has “embraced nature at the core of its technology.”

At the moment, OutpostX is nearly complete, with the retreat recently launching an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for the rest of the construction. Prices will start from US$315 for a night’s stay in the Sky Lodge.
