This Tiny Mobile House Comes With A Pop-Up Second Floor For More Space

The trend of tiny houses isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Recently, Home Depot released a do-it-yourself kit complete with a spiral staircase that leads up to an open-air rooftop deck.

Now, German-based construction firm Vagabundo has released its eponymous creation, the Vagabundo Flex, which merges the common aesthetics found in tiny houses with that of a container home.

The result? A comfortable, two-story space that expands for additional flexibility with an automated lifting roof system. Its exterior is built on a steel platform with timber framing, including wood fiber insulation and double-glazed safety glass windows.

Within its confines, the sustainable home boasts three-layer fir wood paneling that’s just right for a family of two. Thanks to its unique lifting system, the roof of the house can rise to 20.3 feet, creating a total interior space of 300 square feet.

Homeowners will enjoy a modern living space with all the needed amenities while connecting to the surroundings through panoramic windows. As per the firm, the ground floor comes with an open-plan living room that opens to an outdoor terrace.

The lounge boasts picturesque views from large windows, complete with underfloor heating and an optional wood stove to keep occupants warm in the winter. There’s even a kitchen, bathroom with shower, and more bedroom space upstairs.

Interestingly, the lifting system doesn’t seem to add unwanted, bulky elements to the design of the cabin. Instead, the mechanisms are tucked away in the corners and cupboards of the home, with extra oak pillars to ensure the rooftop’s safety.

Buyers can choose to use the Vagabundo Flex in three ways: first, by keeping the home mobile by placing it on top of a trailer. Second, one can choose to mount the house on supports so that there’s additional storage space beneath it.

Last but not least, if individuals aren’t looking to move from place to place, the tiny unit can be placed directly onto a prepared foundation for a more permanent location.
