Google has unveiled exciting updates for all you Pixel phone and Pixel Watch enthusiasts that will have you snapping photos effortlessly and gaining a more intuitive workout buddy on your wrist.
With hands-free photo-taking mode, you can now capture shots by simply waving your hand. No more fussing with timers or awkward phone maneuvers. This feature is exclusively available on the Pixel 6 and newer models.
Google is also introducing a Macro Focus lens that lets you snap close-up shots of your subject, like butterflies fluttering or flowers swaying in the wind.
Google is also giving users the chance to add a little more personality to their phones with cinematic wallpapers. Regular 2D pictures can now transform into 3D images, adding a dynamic layer to your home screen. Users can also craft their own emoji wallpapers with over 4,000 emojis to mix and match with.
The new updates also put safety at the forefront for users. The revamped Safety Check feature allows users to set up check-ins for a specific duration, from 15 minutes to eight hours. When the time is up, their emergency contacts will be notified, along with the reason for the prompt, if they decide to input one. Google Assistant, just a tap away, will check in on them and offer options to mark themselves safe, share their location, or call for help. Not only that, but its car crash detection feature can now also contact loved ones aside from calling authorities.
Last but not least is the Pixel Watch. Your device can now automatically pause your workout session when it senses that you’ve stopped moving. When you’re back in action, it seamlessly resumes tracking your progress. Plus, it keeps an eye on your blood oxygen levels while you sleep and provides updates on whether everything is within a healthy range.
At the moment, not all features are available, but they will be gradually released in the following weeks.
