Iconic guitar manufacturer Fender has joined forces with Saint Laurent to create a collection that blends art, fashion, and music, bringing together the craftsmanship of Fender guitars with the renowned design aesthetic of the luxury fashion brand.
The range features a limited-edition series of Stratocaster guitars that first appeared in 1954, alongside an amplifier, a case, and a pick, each drawing inspiration from Saint Laurent’s famous runway designs.
The instrument and its accessories come in a sleek glossy black, highlighting the fashion label’s affinity for the color. Its body, neck, and head are topped off in a black urethane finish with the Saint Laurent logo by its tremolo and the Fender icon on its head. Its switches, volume and tone pots, and pick-up covers are all doused in the same hue.
Of course, such an instrument needs the right carrying case, and along with it is a hardshell case with a strap and a certificate of authenticity. For those looking to rock out fashionably, there is also a limited-edition ’65 Deluxe Reverb Fender x Saint Laurent Amplifier. Lastly, to top off the lineup are six celluloid guitar picks with Saint Laurent branding in a special edition tin.
The Stratocaster was made in Fender’s Custom Shop in California as part of a collection of just 10 and retailed for US$12,500. So far, nine have already been snatched up, with just one left online. According to Guitar.com, you can get one specially made by Fender for about the same price plus custom build fees added on.
