Apple’s ‘Visual Look Up’ In iOS 17 Can Decode Your Car’s Strange Symbols For You

Unlocking the mysteries hidden within your car’s dashboard symbols will become much more accessible, thanks to the forthcoming iOS 17 update. Apple’s latest operating system will upgrade its Visual Look Up feature, designed to demystify those perplexing icons that leave drivers scratching their heads.
 
Currently, all that is officially known of the update is in a preview issued by Apple, and a Redditor who first spotted the tool.
 
As per the original post, Visual Look Up can identify your heating, ventilation, and air condition symbols and warning lights. Your phone will provide a popup at the bottom of the screen to show you what these mean and diagnose your car with any problems.

Visual Look Up isn’t entirely new. Apple introduced it first with iOS 15 as a visual search engine that uses artificial intelligence to identify various objects. In the latest preview, you can identify plants, animals, and landmarks from a video where you can pause, tap, and hold on to the subject to search it.
 
However, there’s no denying that as car symbols get increasingly more complex, a tool like this could about save you from breaking down on the side of the highway. Lifewire even points out that there isn’t a universal set of symbols for vehicles, allowing for a wide range of icons to pop up and confuse drivers. Whether you’re getting a new car, driving your friends’, or renting one on vacation. Hopefully, this new feature will give you peace of mind on the road without whipping out the owner’s manual.
