Pepsi Fuses Cola Into Condiment—Called ‘Colachup’—To Level Up Hot Dogs

On just the Fourth of July alone, over 150 million hot dogs are consumed in America, with the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council reporting that sales of the beloved dish skyrocket the entire weekend. And what better to pair with freshly-grilled frankfurters than an ice-cold glass of Pepsi?

To make the experience even better, Pepsi has teamed up with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Consulting to reimagine a condiment that perfectly complements the country’s favorite summer food.

The result? Pepsi Colachup—which is exactly what its name implies, is the world’s first Pepsi-infused ketchup that lets fans add the refreshing, citrusy taste of the soda directly onto their hot dogs and bring even more red, white, and blue to holiday parties.

“The concept is both simple and creative. The distinctive flavors and vibrant citrus blend of Pepsi enhances the bright and tangy characteristics of ketchup, offsetting the smokiness of the hot dog,” explained David Kamen, Director of Client Experience at CIA Consulting.

Those looking to get a taste of the innovative condiment can do so at the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks, and New York Yankees’ home games on July 4, 2023. Sampling carts will be available for guests to try out Pepsi Colachup for themselves.
