LEGO’s Most Expensive Technic Set Is A $700 Liebherr Crawler Crane

LEGO has just unleashed its latest Technic set, the Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000, which would get builders buzzing for a new constructing challenge this summer.
 
Now, the kit is not for the faint of heart. Firstly, it comes with 2,883 pieces and a US$700 price tag, making it the most expensive Technic set currently available. But hey, sometimes you’ve got to go big or go home, right?

At its full height, the crane comes at a staggering 39 inches with its boom erect, 43 inches long, and 11 inches wide. It also has tank treads that can operate over any terrain, an upper structure that can swivel 360 degrees, and an articulated boom with a functional hook. All said and done, it’s a (not so) mini crane that can turn your living room into a tiny construction site.
 
The model is controlled via Bluetooth using LEGO’s CONTROL+ smartphone app, which will perform operations such as “tank steering, rotating turntable, luffing job, winch, and load sensing.” Its ability to imitate the functions of a real-life crane is partly why it’s so pricey. The set houses six large LEGO electric motors that power up its motor functions and two smart hubs which allow it to be controlled via your phone. On top of that, you’ll have to source your own AA batteries.
