Step aside, Golden Arches—the best kids’ birthday parties could now be splashed in blue and yellow.

Having visited IKEA a handful of times, a little girl named Lucy was hopeful to have her third birthday party at her favorite store. Surprisingly, the furniture giant delivered, adding party planning to its long list of services.

Documenting the unforgettable day in a video on TikTok, the girl’s mother shared how the family was first greeted by Tampa staffers at the door, who gave the guest-of-honor a special IKEA-themed sash.

Lucy, dressed for the occasion in blue and yellow, was led to her surprise party via tinier directional arrows on the floor that were labeled with the number three, which was how old she was turning.

The actual venue was clad in IKEA’s colors, of course, from the balloons and streamers, to the mini tables and stools. There, guests had their fill of pizza, mac and cheese, and, of course, the famous IKEA meatballs. “Lunchtime was a huge hit,” Lucy’s mom reported.

The fun continued through a scavenger hunt in the gigantic showroom, before concluding with the cake-cutting ceremony, where workers were all in attendance to sing the girl the birthday song.

Lucy even received her own IKEA employer’s shirt, making her the smallest member of the team yet.

The birthday girl’s friends were given goodie bags filled with IKEA swag, while grownups were handed IKEA gift cards.

The mother said the team went “above and beyond” in throwing the best party for her family.

You might be wondering: IKEA hosts parties? Unfortunately, it’s not an official service, but Lucy’s mother decided to try asking anyway.

IKEA loved the idea, and it reached out to the Tampa store to see if it was up to the project.

Explaining why the family had considered the furniture store as a place to celebrate the girl’s birthday, Lucy’s mom said her child “fell in love” with the store as she had finally “found a place [where] she could play with toys, jump on beds, and eat pizza… and I would allow it.”

The unique bash gives parents hope that their little IKEA fans may spend their special day at their local Swedish store.

Customers in other parts of the world, however, may be entitled to this privilege with little negotiation. In India, at least, shoppers have the option to book the dining hall for private events.

But who knows? IKEA birthday parties might eventually become an actual thing worldwide. With a plethora of furniture and toys at hand, and a maze and food service in place, it’s a natural fit.
