Pringles’ iconicCan Hands advertisement initially premiered during last year’s Super Bowl, playfully acknowledging the occasional mishap of getting your hand stuck inside their cans while reaching for the last few chips. The snack brand has now launched three new commercials tailored to the European market, expanding its reach globally.
In one spot, a gentleman attending a pre-drinks party in France eyes a can of Pringles and, unable to resist, inserts his hand and is surprised when he can’t get it out.
Attempting to conceal his predicament, he discreetly heads to an empty room, only to discover a group of people already gathered there, all with their arms stuck in Pringles packaging. In a humorous twist, they bond over their shared experience.
Another spot features a woman preparing snacks for a social gathering. She, too, becomes trapped in a Pringles can. However, she embraces the situation instead of feeling embarrassed and showcases her can-hand versatility. From chipping ice and spinning plates to giving massages and even playing the guitar, she turns her plight into an entertaining spectacle.
These commercials werecreated specifically for the “Apéro” markets in France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. “Apéro” refers to the pre-dinner period when people come together to enjoy cocktails and snacks.
The videos aim to transform the potentially awkward scenario of getting your hand stuck in a Pringles can into a lighthearted and enjoyable experience. Whether finding like-minded individuals and forming connections or becoming the center of attention at your gathering, Pringles encourages embracing the fun side of the situation.
The campaign spots were developed by advertising agency Grey London and directed by Ulf Johansson.
