For those residing in Instagram-famous homes, the hordes of tourists and passers-by who stop to snap a picture or video of the buildings every day can be a bother. To address this issue, WhatsApp has provided these sites with much-needed “privacy shades.”
The out-of-home campaign, which creative agency BBDO New York devised, relieves tenants of these iconic homes from prying eyes. The shades were installed on three buildings in the US featured in famous television series, which are often Instagram favorites.
“Privacy matters. Turn on total privacy,” the bright green shades read. These eye-catching signs appeared on the New Girl apartment in Los Angeles, the Full House (Painted Ladies) home in San Francisco, and Tom’s Diner from Seinfeld in New York.
This cheeky stunt aims to draw attention to the messaging service’s latest privacy upgrades, which were announced by Meta last month. Users can now enjoy a privacy check-up, silence unknown callers, have end-to-end encryption, hide their online presence, and more.
