Domino’s Japan Introduces ‘Pickle Pizza’ For Those Who Want A Pound Of Sourness

It isn’t rare for Domino’s to come up with whacky ideas for its pizzas, such as delivering pies by jetpack to hungry festival-goers or launching a bacon-flavored shake for customers to dip their pizza slices into.

Now, the brand has launched a rather peculiar offering in Japan: the Pickle Pizza. According to the ingredients list, customers who are brave enough to order this addition to the menu will receive a pie topped with nothing but pickles and camembert cheese sauce.

SoraNews24, who put the distinct flavor to the test, noted that the pizza came with a whopping 600 grams (1.32 pounds) of sliced dill pickles—enough to satisfy even the most ardent lover of sour foods.

Interestingly, the Pickle Pizza comes in a larger size than Domino’s standard offerings, in what it describes as “NY style,” with a diameter of 40 cm (15.7 inches). The publication’s taste tester remarked that the topping wasn’t as acidic as expected, similar to a McDonald’s burger.

However, it seems the most anyone could muster was a few slices. After all, it would be a challenge to down slice after slice of sour pickles, no matter how “mellow” it may taste. It’s unlikely this flavor will return to Domino’s stores in Japan anytime soon after this release.
