Would video games be even more immersive if players could feel every stab, punch, and fall that hits their character? Perhaps, as that’s exactly what Ubisoft is exploring with its innovative Assassin’s Creed haptic feedback shirt.
According to thelaunch, the garment will make use of the OWO system to allow wearers to feel the precise movements in-game characters face when taking down targets. “But beware: they are out to get you. Don’t let your enemies get too close or you will feel the consequences,” it warns.
As per OWO’ssensations library, the range of feedback players will experience range all the way from blowing wind to stress, freefalling, dagger wounds, severe abdominal wounds (ouch?), and gunshots with exit wounds.
The shirt—which comes together with a digital copy of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage Special Edition—will be playable on the PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC. Each set comprises an OWO skin, OWO device, x 20 gel pads, charging cable, storage pouch, and game code.
Interestingly, users can pair the haptic feedback shirt with an accompanying application that will enable individuals to fully calibrate their personal screens. Each gamer’s statistics will be saved to the software, so calibration gets automatically customized each time one enters the game.
