Satellites have captured a sight that may be well beyond Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams.
On July 15, when the singer was set to perform in the second of her two Eras Tour shows in Denver, Virginia-based BlackSky sent out its equipment to take photos of the location. The result? Well, you might not be able to shake it off.
The satellite produced three snapshots of the venue that day—one taken in the morning, one in the afternoon, and the final one in the evening.
At 6:27 p.m., three minutes before the start of the concert, its imagery showed that both the stadium and parking space were fully occupied.
“Analysis indicates approximately 7,200 cars in the parking lots,” BlackSky elaborates. And as Space.com aptly puts it, Swift’s popularity is “apparent from space.” Talk about star quality.
Spying on Swift was a break from the company’s usual duties of aiding civilian and defense agencies with real-time geospatial intelligence. In addition to working with governments, it also helps businesses identify strategic locations and resources through its constellation of satellites.
The pop star may have sold out shows across the States, but to truly observe her out-of-the-world acclaim, you’ll have to head over to Asia. With only two destinations in the continent selected for the Eras Tour—Tokyo and Singapore—Asian Swifties have found it nearly impossible to secure a ticket. And it’s not just a fight with other notoriously feverish fanatics, but relentless bots and scrapers too.
