Mercedes-Benz Gives Dog Its Own Wheels After Car Crash Took Away Its Legs

Now, here’s a paw-sitive piece of news to brighten up your day. Mercedes-Benz has been hailed as a top dog for giving a pet with special needs her own wheelchair. Today, Bunny the rescue can scamper around just as easily and quickly as from before she lost her legs.
Bunny was hit by a car in Mexico and had to get surgery to remove her two hind legs. Unfortunately, her owners abandoned her after the accident, though she was soon taken into the care of animal rescuer Henry Friedman, where she found a bit of fame on social media.
Friedman was particularly amused by a comment that said Bunny “deserves the Mercedes-Benz of wheelchairs,” which compelled him to reach out to the automaker to see if it could give Bunny a helping paw.
Remarkably, the brand responded and gifted the dog her own wheels, which came with a license plate reading “BUNNYS BENZ.” The wheelchair, now acting as Bunny’s back legs, was designed by Eddie’s Wheels, a wheelchair maker for pets.
Each pet wheelchair is built differently. The customizer takes into account the user’s weight, age, and activity level to create each unit, and adds stirrups, support straps, or braces for animals who may need them.
The pooch adapted to her new wheels right away, effortlessly speeding around with them. She even used them to get down steps, with the new “legs” seamlessly following her.
Bunny can now go on adventures with her foster family, who lives in and gets around on a van, without being held back by her incident.
The wheelchair is quite possibly “our favorite vehicle of all time,” proclaims Mercedes-Benz USA.
