McDonald’s McNuggets Art Exhibition & Video Game Celebrate Its 40th Anniversary

To mark four whole decades of delicious McNuggets, McDonald’s has partnered with creative agency DDB Group Hong Kong to create a fully-immersive celebration for fans in the form of an art exhibition and its first-ever themed metaverse gaming experience.

There’s no doubt that McNuggets are an iconic part of pop culture. Remember when sprinter Usain Bolt admitted to eating 100 bites of chicken every day at the Beijing Olympics or when Rick and Morty fans stormed fast-food outlets demanding Szechuan sauce?

Now, fans of the delectable side in Hong Kong can head over to the West Kowloon Cultural District on July 29, 2023, to enjoy an entire pop art exhibition dedicated to the world’s love for McNuggets.

The display, created in collaboration with creative director Kevin Poon, is dubbed the Coach McNugget Art World. It will see the site’s Art Pavilion make way for a merging of art, technology, and culture featuring all walks of creativity to celebrate the past, present, and future of the offering.

Visitors can look forward to traveling through a time tunnel while exploring the storied history of McNuggets, before getting to view 20 unique exhibits helmed by artists, including Jon Burgerman, UFO907, Gyuhan Lee, and FrankNitty3000.

In addition, individuals will even get the chance to create their own special McNugget shapes as laser tattoos, with merchandise designed by artist VANDYTHEPINK up for grabs as souvenirs. All proceeds from the exhibition will go toward the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong.

Gamers can commemorate the McDonald’s offering in the Web 3 world instead, in which the chain has teamed up with metaverse experts The Sandbox to create McNuggets Land.

Within the game, players will be tasked with conquering a series of challenges with chances to win digital and physical prizes while interacting with a new collection of pop art nugget characters. The grand prize, naturally, is a year’s worth of free McNuggets.
