EasyJet Sends The ‘Mona Lisa’ And Other Famous Paintings On Vacation

Sometimes, even tourist attractions need a vacation themselves, and that’s precisely what EasyJet is affording in its newest Get Out There campaign, where some of the most iconic art pieces are seen jet-setting and getting some much-needed R&R.
 
The spot begins with visitors at the Louvre in Paris realizing that the Mona Lisa has escaped her painting, leaving a blank space where she once sat. It cuts to her handing her passport over as she boards an EasyJet flight to Greece.

The video also shows Auguste Rodin’s The Thinker sitting in a square ordering food, Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring lounging on a beach with another woman, and even a couple of cherubs playing around in a pool.

 
On top of that, to drive home the spirit of travel, EasyJet and communications agency VCCP London have found a cast of real people to play each part. Each person bears a striking resemblance to the iconic artwork, effectively bringing the campaign to life in more ways than one.

According to The Drum, David Masterman, deputy executive creative director at VCCP, noted that the choice to send different art subjects on vacation came about as there was no one better to tell the audience the benefits of travel rather than someone who has been stuck in one place for hundreds of years.
