Threads is set to introduce a much-needed feature that users have been awaiting. The platform will soon debut a ‘Following’ feed, allowing users to better keep track of the posts and updates from the accounts they follow. This addition comes as one of the most requested features since Threads’ initial launch.
Threads, a product of Meta, has seen significant interest since its rollout, amassing an impressive 100 million signups in just one week. But as its momentum wanes, the company is finding ways to amp up engagement on the site.
To announce the update, CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on Threads, saying, “Ask and you shall receive.”
Users can access the new feed and the ‘For You’ page both from the top of the app. As CNN points out, the Following page has been a pretty central feature of Twitter and allows users to zero in on accounts they want to see rather than what an algorithm proposes they might like.

A translation feature has also been introduced. These translations will be done automatically and will depend on the language of the text and the user’s preferences.
In addition to the Following feed, Threads is also making other improvements based on user feedback. These include allowing users to view their liked posts in the settings, offering better organization, and easy access to their favorite content.
As per a report by TechCrunch, Instagram has announced an update that introduces fresh categories to organize your Activity feed. You can now filter by Follows, Quotes, and Reposts, and also find a new Follow button on your follower list, making it easier to follow other accounts.
An edit button is also in the works, allowing users to change their posts after publication. Multi-account support will also be introduced, enabling users to switch between different accounts on Threads seamlessly.
While Meta’s Threads continues to evolve and cater to user preferences, Twitter, the well-established social media giant, is navigating its own transformation. Under the leadership of Elon Musk, Twitter is rebranding itself as an “everything app”, moving away from its iconic bird branding and embracing the letter “X” as its new emblem.
As both platforms continue to innovate and refine their offerings, it’s evident that Meta’s ongoing work on Threads may pose some competition for Twitter. Interestingly, Meta already holds intellectual property rights to the letter “X,” potentially adding an intriguing layer to the unfolding competition between the two social media behemoths.
